Today, Aluminij d.d. Mostar is marking the 20th jubilee anniversary, or the 20th anniversary of the post-war production restart, accompanied by dignitaries from all levels of the government, led by the Croatian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the president of HNS BiH and HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, PhD.
CEO Mario Gadžić addressed the assembled representatives of politics and the government, the president and members of the Supervisory Board of Aluminij, members of the diplomatic corps, top people of the major partner companies of Aluminij, and prominent figures from the economic, cultural and scientific life. His speech was praised with the applause of approval, and his message was full of cautious optimism. Mr. Gadžić informed the attendees that the Mostar smelter has made a small, but very import profit in the first two months of the current year which testifies the correctness of direction in which this Board is heading together with each employee.
- Everything related to Aluminij falls under the law of large figures and all that happens here, happens in gigantic proportions. It took courage and vision to raise this Herzegovinian breadwinner from the war destruction in those hard days of 1997, but it also took courage and vision last year to pull it from the very edge of the abyss. At the end of 2016, Aluminij made a step forward from the position of declaring bankruptcy and irretrievable destruction, to the position of the slow but safe recovery. The comprehensive restructuring has been in the full swing and initial indications are encouraging confirmation of a proper direction of our voyage, for our owners and the government representatives as well as to each one of our business partners, banks and creditors, in short for our every friend who has given us understanding and support, without which we would not have a chance to face this demanding clash with the catastrophe over our heads. Aluminij is no longer on its knees, Aluminij is a rising giant – bravely said the first man of the Herzegovinian giant, by proposing a toast to his team that joined him in a challenge of his life.
- I am deeply grateful to all of you, high political officials, our SB, diplomats, partners.... We are all Aluminij! We are here because of our mutual support, which is a key point in ensuring the joint development of economic prosperity of this country in which Aluminij has been and remains to be the largest exporter and the true engine of the new value creation – added Gadžić.
Today's ceremony, with more than a hundred of gathered dignitaries, among which were the President of the Federation BiH, deputies and advisor to ministers from the state and the federal levels of the government, the Prime Minister of HNC, the Mostar Mayor, the executives of both power utility companies in the Federation BiH, director of Elektroprijenos, directors of the largest commercial banks in BiH, directors and board members of almost all metal processing plants in BiH and many others, shall be followed by a gala-evening at the Aluminij Gallery starting at 9 p.m. It is the exhibition opening of top art works, called 50 to 20, which which is a gift from Aluminij to its community, a celebration with all the citizens of Mostar, Herzegovina and the entire BiH.
